In the period from July 15 to 17, the first training of the Building Union Power in Public Services (BUPPS) project organized by the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) was held in Belgrade on the subject of recruiting and organizing trade union organizations.
At this training, the Union of UPOZ was represented by the General Secretary of the Union of UPOZ Bojan Tripunoski and Ljupka Apostolovska, who in the following period will be in charge of recruiting new members to the Union of UPOZ. In addition to the UPOZ Trade Union, trade unions from Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Romania and the Czech Republic participated in this training.
At this training, several topics were covered, among which emphasis was placed on mapping trade union organizations and the challenges they face in their countries. Within the framework of the training, various strategies and methods for recruiting new members were discussed, as well as effective ways of organizing trade union activities in the public sector.
Also, the participants of this workshop shared their experiences about the challenges they face during campaigns to improve working conditions and protect the rights of workers in public services.
This kind of exchange of experiences and knowledge greatly helps the trade unions themselves to develop strategies for protecting the interests of their members as well as for the overall progress of policies on working conditions.
